Subject: A Satisfied Mind

"A Satisfied Mind" was Porter Wagoner's first #1 song in 1955, although John's version owes more to Tim Hardin's recording of the song. Hardin did it for his 1971 "Bird On a Wire" album. Of course, this is just another of the Hardin connections, following "If I Were a Carpenter," "Lady Came From Baltimore," "Reason to Believe," and even Leonard Cohen's "Bird on the Wire," which John wanted to record ever since he first heard it from Gary Klein in 1974.

Dylan also recorded it for his 1980 "Saved" album.
