The Year 2000 and on! |
| As
the year 2000 started, Johnny Cash was entering
his 45th year in music and was recording some of
his most powerful material. The pairing of Rick
Rubin with Cash offered a new energy on creativity. Health was suffering for Cash and
that stated to show in his recordings. His final
release called "Man Comes Around"
would offer the world a masterpiece with the
video of "Hurt." June Carter would
pass away in 2003 and leave an unfillable void
in Cash's life. To try and fill that void, Cash poured
himself into recording. John would pass away four
months later. Since his passing, the vaults of
American Records have begun to release that
final work that consumed Cash's final months.
The first posthumous release was entitled,
"Hundred Highways" and soared to
number one on its release date, July 4,
2006.....over fifty years since he, Luther, and
Marshall first tried to get Sam Phillips to
record them. Rubin promises more to come. |
