The Nineties |
| As
the Nineties began, Cash's recording career was
struggling. Over the last many years he had
bounced from label to label trying to find one
that would recognize the potential that he still
held. The opportunity came in 1994 when Cash met
with producer Rick Rubin. Though Rubin was
better noted for producing Rap and Rock artists,
he knew what Cash could bring to his new
fledgling label called, "American".
Their first recording together paired Cash's
natural voice with just the sound of his
acoustic guitar. So began Cash's third career rebirth
and one of the most successful producer-artist
pairing in the history of recorded
music. |
