Johnny Cash

'She's the greatest woman I have ever known. Nobody else, except my mother, comes close.''

Three things June has taught me...(out of many)

1. LAUGH.. you can find humor just about anywhere you look if you look hard enough.

2. FORGIVE....even when you feel certain people don't deserve it.

3. LOVE one another. She has always found the good in people, even people you thought didn't have any good in them.

Happy Mother's Day June...You've been a great loving second mother to me and mine.

Rosanne Cash

"I was sitting in the kitchen when she hung up a good 20 minutes later, and she had a big smile on her face, and she said, 'I just had the nicest conversation,'" Rosanne said. "And she started telling me about this other woman's life and her children and that she had just lost her father and where she lived and on and on. And I said, 'Well, June, who was it?' And she said, 'Well, honey, it was a wrong number.' That was June. In her eyes there were two kinds of people: those she knew and loved, and those she didn't know and loved. She looked for the best in everyone. It was a way of life for her. ... She was forever lifting people up."

Prime Minister of Jamaica

"A philanthropist extraordinaire, Mrs. Cash made Jamaica her second home and loved and cared deeply for the people of her adopted country," the representative said. "A gifted and talented singer, she and her husband, Johnny Cash, used the very talents for the benefit of many charities in and around Montego Bay. ... On behalf of all Jamaica and in particular the many individuals whose lives have been touched, I express condolences to her husband, family and friends."

Jane Seymour

"I had the privilege of working with June as an actress, and she taught me so much about acting, about God, about giving and about love,"

Glenn Weekley

"A lot of great things will be said about June today, but the greatest thing that can be said about her and about anyone is that they have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ," said Glenn Weekley, pastor of First Baptist Hendersonville, where Cash was a member.

Ed Benson

"People talk about Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette when it comes to pioneering women in country music. But they very seldom mention June, somewhat because she got married to Johnny Cash," said Ed Benson, executive director of the Country Music Association. "I think people should think of her more often when they think of the pioneering women in country music."

 Rodney Crowell

''June just said, 'You may be getting a divorce, but I'm not letting you leave the family,' '' Crowell said. ''She collected human beings, you know. I was happy to be among her collection.''

Steve Wariner

''Our music and our lives were brightened and forever changed by her musical legacy — the one she inherited and the one she handed down — as well as her kind, loving spirit,'' Wariner said.

''I will never forget the joy she exuded when she was on stage, and the love and support she gave to Johnny Cash during their many years together was truly inspiring.''

Keith Bilbrey at WSM-radio

“Warmth, friendliness -- she never came off as a star. She was just little Junie Carter,” said Bilbrey.

“ It seems June Carter was put on this earth to save Johnny Cash and Johnny Cash to love June Carter. She stayed with him and it became a mission in her life,” said Bilbrey.

Duane Allen

“My memories of June are so real, as if it were yesterday. I love her for who she was...I love her for saving Johnny's life...I will miss her saying, ‘It's so good to see 'my children.'

“Today, the world of music has been diminished by the passing of June Carter Cash,” said Allen.

Jack Shaw

Shaw, a Pennsylvania minister, said he’d always remember Mrs. Cash as “the person who taught us the meaning of friendship. She taught us the grit and grace of friendship, and the world will never be the same without her, nor will heaven, be the same with her there.’’

Merle Kilgore

"The most discussed thing at the funeral was that no one ever heard her say anything bad about anybody," says Merle Kilgore, who's particularly well-versed in the many aspects of Carter Cash's career. "Come to think about it, she never did."

When I think of June, I think of HATS. AND LOTS OF LAUGHS.

Let's see...

some of her funny words and phrases...

"Let's just hunker down" (get busy)

"I'm just paddling along" (trying to figure out what to do...or ....wandering around)

"I'm just trying to matter" (she always said that when she was feeling tired.)

"Ouch...she/he is just a little black cloud" (someone that was negative)

"I'm so tired, I can barely wiggle" (self explanatory)

"Here we go a goin'" (getting ready to go somewhere)

"We're just doin' the best we can."

"when you feel sad or need lifting up..you just have to shop. That's all there is to do."

"Honey, remember...everyone on the road is out to kill you" (favorite saying while driving)

"I'm so thirsty..I need a piece of water."

"Here baby...a piece of money always makes you feel better."

"I'm just busted down" (worn out or feeling bad)

"I'll just put this little dude right here" ("little dude" was her saying for every inanimate

object....a flower, her purse, a picture, EVERYTHING and anything)

"Honey, it's not a good Daddy day" (if dad was in a bad mood or grumpy)

"Here we go just a laughin'" (if something negative was going on)

"You look sad.. come in my bathroom, lay down on my chaise, put your feet up, and let's talk about it" (her bathroom is as big as my bedroom, and her comfort zone)

"my shoulders are lonely...let's go in here so you can use one" (when she felt I needed to talk)

"Let's go shopping...you get a cart, and I get a cart. If it isn't full, you aren't finished"

God bless her. I really miss her. Today it's been a week since her service.
