Average Customer Review:
I have been a CASH collector for years, and this is a welcome addition to my
collection. Wonderful, previously before unreleased pictures, and Mr. Miller has
generously donated all of the royalties he is entitled to recieve from the sale
of this book to SOS children's village, a very worthwhile organization. An
absolute MUST read...(and collect)
Johnny Cash sang of a 'Tear Stained Letter'. Bill Miller's new Project is a
'Tear Stained Book'. Written with the love and passion which joined two friends
together on a magical journey. 'Cash An American Man' is more than an intimate
look into the life of America's greatest treasure, it is the " High School
Annual" of Johnny's life. This book shows the mystical, spiritual, &
Enigmatic immortality of Johnny Cash. Mr. Miller has given Johnny's family as
well as the world a "backstage" view into the soul of a powerful man.

"Bill Miller's book is assembled with so much genuine respect and love
that it feels like a family album. Even if no one else ever sees this book, I am
delighted and grateful that it exists so that one day I may show it to my
grandchildren."
Johnny Cash rocks and this book proves that. I'm 22 years old, and I wasn't around when he started out, but I really got into his music in the past few years. This book shows me that Cash is his music! His life is raw and honest, just like the music. I've had the book for almost a week and keep going back to it. Every time I pick it up, I find something new. It's well done, it's well illustrated and well written. I'm buying an extra copy for when I wear this copy out.
I didn't ever know a lot about Johnny, but I know A LOT NOW! He was really one of the beginners of rock and roll and country. Even though I'm a kid, I do like his music and the Hurt video. It is cool to be able to see how Johnny wrote songs and letters and how he crossed things out and made them different when he worked on them. I really like the story about Johnny giving the money to the poorest kid in the high school and helping the man with one leg to to the hospital. He sure was a good man and I really know much about him and his good ways now. My Dad said that Johnny Cash is one of the most famous men in the history of our country and I believe it after seeing that he got letters from Presidents, movie stars and other important people. It was also cool to see the Bible studies he did. It made me relate to his home work when I saw that his teacher gave him A's on his studies. I'm taking this book to school and my teacher said she would let me read from
it and show it next week. I know my friends will think it is really cool!
I saw it today, got it today and my friends tried to steal it from me. The pictures in this book are amazing and it shows the Johnny Cash I didn't know existed. He's a kind-hearted soul who cared for all people, rich and poor and never forgot where he came from. I cried when I got to the end. Seeing how his hand writing got so shaky and reading the last song he wrote made me know that Johnny knew the end of his life was near. Anyone who loves music and America should go buy the book. You'll be glad you
did!
Bill Miller has captured the essence of Johnny Cash in his book. It's an ode to
a friend, written by a friend and the book feels personal and positive. In a
world of scandalous celebrity books, this one is deeply personal, full of love,
respect and new insight. It's a fantastic visual celebration of one of the
greatest lives in entertainment history.
This book is really cool. It is like a museum of The Man In Black. It really lets me feel like I'm taking a peek into his life and like he's the one giving me the peek. Although it was written by a friend of his, this book feels like Johnny Cash wrote it. He speaks to you through his own hand-written songs and writings. The pictures show a Johnny Cash many of us have not seen before. It also features the last song Johnny Cash ever wrote, in his shaky handwriting shortly before he left the world. There are pictures of his air force uniform, his guitar where he has written the words to "I Walk The Line", drawings and painting made by him (including an amazing drawing he did of the Shroud of Turin) and so much cool, cool stuff! I love this book and every time I look at it I find something new. It is
different from other Cash books...and that's what I like about it.
I have been a fan of Johnny Cash ever since he released his first American record and have gotten more interested in Johnny Cash, the person, as time goes on. When I flipped this book open, I was amazed. It is a fabulous 'museum' of artifacts, many handwritten by Johnny Cash himself, laying his life out for all to see. The photographs are beautiful. The words are beautiful. After reading the book from cover to cover, I feel as if I have spent time with Mr. Cash. I feel like he's an old friend...or maybe even a family member. It is so interesting to see how Johnny Cash wrote songs; it is insightful to read his poems to his wife June Carter Cash---several when she was alive and one after she died. There is a letter written to his daughters when he was on tour in the 60's; letters written to him by Presidents...it's an awesome display of Johnny Cash---the performer, the legend---and the human being. A visual feast, I would recommend this book to anyone!
